Job summary

Barrier Marine Services (Canada) Ltd invites an experienced HVAC Design Engineer to join our Vancouver team, focusing on marine HVAC design from concept through fabrication to commissioning. You will report to the HVAC Technical lead as part of a multi-disciplinary group.

Expect to lead design work, supervise junior staff, and ensure adherence to marine standards and project timelines in a busy shipbuilding environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in the marine industry, shipbuilding experience preferred (cruise/naval).
• University degree in engineering; BSc or MSc preferred.
• Strong technical English; French a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead HVAC concept, basic and detail design activities.
• Track project progress and report status.
• Prepare HVAC system specifications and drawings (D&IDs, P&IDs, one-line diagrams).
• Oversee load, ventilation, noise and pressure-drop calculations.
• Coordinate HVAC with deck areas and integration in 3D tools.
• Mentor junior designers and technicians.
• Ensure compliance with marine regulations (LR, SOLAS).
