Job summary

OSI Maritime Systems in Burnaby, BC, invites a Mechanical Design Manager to lead the mechanical design function within Hardware Engineering, overseeing the Mechanical Engineering and CAD teams. You will drive resource planning, design reviews and ensure conformance to standards for marine navigation and bridge systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; P.Eng. designation is an asset.
• 8+ years of mechanical and structural design experience with leadership responsibility.
• Experience with shipboard design, GD&T, and engineering change control.
• Proficiency with CAD/PLM tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, PDXpert, SolidWorks PDM/Vault) and configuration management.

Responsibilities

• Leads, supervises and manages the Mechanical Engineering and CAD teams; participates in recruitment and onboarding.
• Coordinates design work with electrical, systems, software, production, and supply chain to meet deadlines.
• Reviews hardware requirements and ensures designs meet codes, standards and customer requirements.
• Owns CAD environment and PLM systems; manages change processes and data release to customers.
• Ensures design inputs for environmental qualification and certification testing are planned and executed.
