Job summary

Sureway Construction Group Ltd. is seeking a Lead Hand for the Water & Sewer division in the Edmonton area. The role involves guiding pipelayers, setting up batter boards, and leading crews on site with a focus on grade accuracy and safety.

Applicants must have 2+ years as a Lead Hand in water/sewer, be able to read grade sheets, and possess a reliable vehicle and CSA-rated boots. Pre-employment drug testing and orientations are required.

Responsibilities

• Read grade sheets and take shots to keep pipe on grade.
• Set up batter boards.
• Assist with leading the crews.
• Assist with cutting and beveling pipe.
• Rigging for pipe and manhole lifts.
• Prep work and track line for the crew.
• Keep track of tools and keep crews moving forward.
• Relate foreman's directions to the crew.
• Participate in daily production requirements and toolbox/safety meetings.

Full Time, Seasonal

Schedule

10+ hours per day, 6 & 1, OT after 8hr/day or 44hr/week

Location

Edmonton and Surrounding Area’s – no direct access to public transportation

Requirements

Lead Hand Responsibilities

• Helping pipelayers keep pipe on grade by reading grade sheets and taking shots.
• Setting up batter boards.
• Assist with leading the crews.
• Assist with cutting and beveling pipe.
• Rigging for pipe and man hole lifts.
• Doing the prep work ahead of the crew, track line.
• Keeping track of tools.
• Keeping the crews moving forward with the work.
• Relating the foreman's directions to the crew.
• Involved in daily production requirements.
• Involved in daily tool box and safety meetings.
• Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.

Lead Hand Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience as a Lead Hand in Water and Sewer.
• Experience Shooting grades with a Rod and Level and or Batterboards.
