Rulam Contracting Ltd. in Alberta is seeking a Water and Sewer Pipelayer for seasonal, full-time work based in Acheson, with travel to Edmonton and Northern Alberta areas.

Employment includes 40–70 hours weekly, overtime, and travel expenses covered outside the Edmonton area. You will install and connect pipes for storm, sanitary, and water distribution; excavate trenches; read blueprints; operate trenching equipment; and ensure safety and quality on site.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Install, connect, and seal pipes for storm, sanitary, and water distribution systems
• Excavate and prepare trenches to required depth, alignment, and grade
• Measure, cut, and position pipes in trenches using appropriate tools and laser levels
• Connect pipes and seal joints to prevent leaks
• Backfill trenches and compact soil for support and protection
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specs for pipe placement
• Operate or assist with trenching equipment and pipe installation
• Coordinate with equipment operators and crew for efficient workflow
• Follow safety procedures to maintain a safe job site
• Perform quality checks on installation and alignment

• The position requires travel to various locations in the Acheson, Edmonton, and Northern Alberta areas.
• Travel expenses are covered by the employer for travel outside the Edmonton area.

Wage:

• $32.00 to $36.00/hour (based on skills and experience)
• Salary increases and bonuses based on performance, per company policy

Duties:

• Install, connect, and seal pipes for storm, sanitary, and water distribution systems.
• Excavate and prepare trenches to the required depth, alignment, and grade for pipe installation.
• Measure, cut, and position pipes in trenches using appropriate tools and laser levels to ensure accuracy.
• Connect pipes and seal joints using cement, glue, or other sealing materials to prevent leaks.
• Backfill trenches and compact soil to provide adequate support and protection for installed pipelines.
• Read and interpret construction blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine pipe placement and slope.
• Operate or assist with the operation of equipment used in pipe installation and trench preparation.
• Coordinate activities with equipment operators, supervisors, and other crew members to ensure efficient workflow.
• Follow and promote workplace safety procedures and regulations to maintain a safe job site.
• Perform quality checks to ensure proper installation, alignment, and function of pipelines.
