Job summary

The Town of Whitby is seeking a Working Foreperson, Environmental to lead our Waste Services team. You will supervise curbside waste, organics, yard waste and special collections, focusing on safety, quality and timely service.

You will guide frontline staff, schedule work, monitor performance, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with standard operating procedures. The role includes after-hours on-call rotation, including winter snow and ice control operations.

Responsibilities

• the duties involved in the collection of curbside waste, organics, yard waste and special collections
• regular front-line work including curbside collection duties as required
• provide guidance and direction to front line staff, including training and performance monitoring
• scheduling and planning work
• inspection and monitoring of all applicable waste services requirements including safety compliance, customer service delivery as well as responding to vehicle and equipment issues
• preparation and completion of all required reports and paperwork
• inspects the quality of work and ensures all staff are operating safely as per established Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions
• provides feedback to staff on job performance
• supports Supervisor in resolving any staff performance issues
• other duties as may be assigned
• The incumbent will participate in the Working Foreperson After Hours On-Call rotation including winter snow and ice control operations
