Job summary

The Laundry Worker at Yarmouth Regional Hospital reports to the Assistant Manager and ensures safe and efficient operation of the laundry department equipment. You will process soiled and clean laundry to provide clean products for hospital use in accordance with standards and policies.

This permanent part-time role (50%) offers 37.5 hours per two weeks with benefits; applicants should have Grade 12 or GED, knowledge of infection control, WHMIS training, and ideally French language skills.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12/GED or equivalent work experience required.
  • Knowledge of Infection Control procedures.
  • Completion of WHMS training.
  • Good knowledge of Infection Control guidelines as they pertain to an industrial laundry operation.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of department equipment.
  • Carry out continuous processing of soiled and clean laundry and linen products.
  • Provide clean and safe products to be used by laundry customers in appropriate quantities.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Assistant Manager, the Laundry Worker works to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the department equipment, in accordance with standards, regulations, and department policies; and ensures the continuous processing of soiled and clean laundry and linen products in the department, so as to provide clean and safe products to be used by the laundry customers, in appropriate quantities; and to carry out the above functions in a professional manner, that achieves the mission, goals, and objectives of the Nova Scotia Health.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Grade 12/GED or equivalent work experience required
  • Knowledge of Infection Control procedures
  • Completion of WHMS training
  • Good knowledge of Infection Control guidelines as they pertain to an industrial laundry operation
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
Hours
  • Permanent part-time position; 37.5 hours bi-weekly
Compensation and Benefits

$20.74 - $21.56 hourly
