Job summary

Nova Scotia Health Authority at Yarmouth Regional Hospital seeks an Environmental Services Worker for a long‑assignment, part‑time role. You will help maintain a clean, safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

You’ll clean patient rooms and public areas, mop, dust, vacuum, buff and refinish floors, move furniture and assist with curtain changes as required. Travel to sites may be needed.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 or equivalent work experience.
  • Commitment to safety, ethics, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to travel to other sites; vehicle access may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, safe environment in assigned units including patient rooms and public areas.
  • Mop, dust, vacuum furniture, floors and stairs; buff, scrub and refinish floors.
  • Move and arrange furniture and change curtains and drapes.
  • Adhere to NS Health mission, values and quality standards.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Assistant Manager - Facility Support Services, the Environmental Service Worker maintains a clean, safe, and functional environment for patients, families, staff and visitors.

The Environmental Services Worker is responsible for cleaning all units as assigned, including patient rooms and public areas. This includes but is not limited to: mopping, dusting and vacuuming furniture, floors and stairways, buffing, scrubbing and refinishing floors, moving and arranging furniture and changing curtains and drapes.

The Environmental Services Worker ensures that the principles and practices that guide our work such as the mission, vision, values, expected behaviours, the leadership philosophy, organizational health, population health, ethics, safety, quality, partnerships and inter-professional collaboration are integrated within the services they provide and through the messages they deliver.

About You
  • Grade 12 or equivalent work experience
  • Commitment to promoting a culture that supports safety, ethical practices and organizational health
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Travel to other sites may be required. Access to a reliable vehicle is required
  • Equipment operated includes Taski spray buffers, burnishers, auto scrubbers and shampooers
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
Hours
  • Long assignment, part-time; 30 hours bi-weekly
  • Approximately 1 year
Compensation and Benefits

$20.74 - $21.56 Hourly
