Job summary

Nova Scotia Health Authority's Western Zone at Fishermen's Memorial Hospital seeks an Environmental Services Worker for casual relief. You will clean patient rooms and public areas, including mopping, dusting, vacuuming, buffing and scrubbing, while maintaining safety and confidentiality.

Under the Assistant Manager, Facility Support Services, you will move furniture, change curtains and ensure a respectful, clean environment for patients, families and staff.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 or equivalent work experience.
  • Commitment to safety, ethical practices and organizational health.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Travel to other sites may be required; access to a reliable vehicle is required.
  • Equipment operated includes Taski spray buffers, burnishers, auto scrubbers and shampooers.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Clean all units as assigned, including patient rooms and public areas.
  • Perform mopping, dusting and vacuuming of furniture, floors and stairways; buffing, scrubbing and refinishing floors.
  • Move and arrange furniture and change curtains and drapes.
  • Ensure adherence to mission, vision, values and safety practices in daily work.

About The Opportunity

Reporting to the Assistant Manager - Facility Support Services, the Environmental Service Worker maintains a clean, safe, and functional environment for patients, families, staff and visitors.

The Environmental Services Worker is responsible for cleaning all units as assigned, including patient rooms and public areas. This includes but is not limited to: mopping, dusting and vacuuming furniture, floors and stairways, buffing, scrubbing and refinishing floors, moving and arranging furniture and changing curtains and drapes.

The Environmental Services Worker ensures that the principles and practices that guide our work such as the mission, vision, values, expected behaviours, the leadership philosophy, organizational health, population health, ethics, safety, quality, partnerships and inter-professional collaboration are integrated within the services they provide and through the messages they deliver.

About You

  • Grade 12 or equivalent work experience

Compensation And Benefits

$20.74 - $21.56 Hourly
