Job summary

Wescor Contracting Ltd. seeks an experienced plasterer/drywall installer for on-site work in Victoria, BC. You will read blueprints, prepare surfaces, and apply plaster to walls and ceilings, while fabricating ceilings and handling metal studs.

The role requires 3–5 years of related experience, strong blueprint reading, and precise finishing. This is a full-time, on-site position with health benefits and career growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in plastering or drywall work.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
• Proficient in applying, leveling and smoothing coats of plaster.

Responsibilities

Tasks

• Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements
• Apply, level and smooth coats of plaster
• Clean and prepare surfaces
• Cut and install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners
• Fabricate and install suspended metal ceiling grids and place in panels to form acoustical and coffered ceilings
• Fill joints, nail indentations, holes and cracks with joint compound using trowel and broad knife
• Measure, cut, fit and install drywall sheets
• Position and secure sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists
• Tape over joints using taping machine and embed tape in compound
• Attach metal or gypsum lath to studs or furring
• Cut openings in lath for heating and ventilation piping, ducts and electrical outlets
• Install acoustic tile, hangers for suspended ceilings and metal studs for composition wallboard or lath
• Install exterior and interior steel studs
• Install metal stud framing and furring for interior drywall or plaster walls and ceilings, using hand and power tools
• Prepare wall and ceiling layouts
