Job summary

LASIK MD is seeking a Surgical Assistant in Winnipeg, MB to support intraocular and LASIK procedures. You will prepare the operating room, coordinate instruments, and assist the surgeon with patient comfort and safety in a fast-paced team setting.

Ideal candidates will have strong English communication, responsibility, and comfort with technology. Some healthcare experience is preferred, and travel to other clinics for training is provided with expenses covered.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills in English.
• Able to connect with others and quickly build trust.
• Sense of responsibility and takes role seriously.
• Interest in health field and helping others.
• Comfortable with computers, technology, and Microsoft 365 (EMR knowledge is an asset).
• Healthcare field experience is an asset (Optometric Assistant, Orderly, Dental Assistant, etc.).
• Travel to other clinics for training (expenses covered by Vision Group).
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 am – 4:00 pm, Saturdays on rotation.

Responsibilities

• Become a specialist of tools and technologies used in intraocular and/or LASIK procedures.
• Prepare the room and instruments before procedures as the surgeon relies on you.
• Use effective communication to reassure patients when needed.
• Thrive in a team environment and coordinate actions to support each intervention.
• Work on your feet in the operating room with precision and accuracy.
• Identify and report patient safety concerns to clinic management to mitigate risks.
