Job summary

Jenron Creative Landscapes a Division of Park Landscaping Ltd. in Calgary is seeking a Crew Member, Grounds Management to deliver residential and commercial landscape maintenance with hands-on horticultural care.

You will operate common landscape equipment, perform seasonal cleanups, and uphold safety standards while communicating professionally with the crew and clients.

Qualifications

  • Experience in landscape maintenance or outdoor labour is an asset.
  • Post-secondary training in horticulture, landscaping, or related field is an asset.
  • Safety certifications (First Aid) are an asset.
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License with clean abstract is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mowing, trimming, edging, and blowing per service standards.
  • Assist with aeration, overseeding, topdressing, and turf renovations.
  • Monitor lawn health and report issues such as disease, pests, or irrigation issues.
  • Install and maintain annuals, perennials, shrubs, and trees.
  • Perform pruning, trimming, deadheading, weeding, and cultivation of beds.
  • Apply mulch, fertilizers, and soil amendments as directed.
  • Support plant health through proper watering and seasonal care practices.
  • Identify and report plant health issues to supervisors.
  • Spring and fall clean-ups; leaf removal and debris management.
  • Maintain bed edges, walkways, and hard surfaces to high presentation standards.
  • Remove litter and debris.
  • Safely operate landscape maintenance equipment including backpack blowers, mowers, string trimmers, hedge trimmers, aerators, and spreaders.
  • Use hand tools including shovels, rakes, pruners, hedge shears, and brooms.
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Clean, maintain, and properly store tools and equipment at the end of each shift.
  • Track tools and equipment using company asset systems (e.g., Asset Tiger, Fleetio).
  • Adhere to all OH&S regulations; wear PPE; complete safety documentation.
  • Maintain awareness of site hazards and contribute to a safe work environment.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free job sites.
  • Assist with loading/unloading materials and securing equipment for transport.
  • Support crew productivity through reliability, punctuality, and teamwork.
  • Communicate professionally with crew members, supervisors, and clients.
  • Represent the company’s mission, vision, and values through conduct and performance.

JOB TITLE: Crew Member, Grounds Management

DEPARTMENT: Field Operations

EFFECTIVE DATE: March 2026

SUMMARY: The Crew Member, Grounds Management supports the delivery of residential and commercial landscape maintenance services through hands-on horticultural care, site work, small equipment operation, and property upkeep.

Working under the direction of a Crew Lead or Field Supervisor, this role is responsible for maintaining landscape health, appearance, and safety standards across assigned properties.

The Crew Member contributes to efficient service execution by delivering quality workmanship, maintaining equipment, adhering to safety protocols, and demonstrating professional on-site conduct.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Landscape Maintenance & Horticultural Care
Lawn Maintenance
  • Perform mowing, trimming, edging, and blowing in accordance with service standards.
  • Assist with aeration, overseeding, topdressing, and seasonal turf renovations.
  • Support irrigation checks and basic adjustments as required.
  • Monitor lawn health and report concerns such as disease, pests, or irrigation issues.
  • Install and maintain annuals, perennials, shrubs, and trees.
  • Perform pruning, trimming, deadheading, weeding, and cultivation of beds.
  • Apply mulch, fertilizers, and soil amendments as directed.
  • Support plant health through proper watering and seasonal care practices.
  • Identify and report plant health issues to supervisors.
Seasonal & Property Maintenance
  • Complete spring and fall clean-ups, including leaf removal and debris management.
  • Maintain bed edges, walkways, and hard surfaces to high presentation standards.
  • Remove litter, organic buildup, and general site debris.
2. Equipment & Tool Operation
  • Safely operate landscape maintenance equipment including backpack blowers, mowers (push and ride-on), string trimmers, hedge trimmers, aerators, and spreaders.
  • Use hand tools including shovels, rakes, pruners, hedge shears, and brooms.
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Clean, maintain, and properly store tools and equipment at the end of each shift.
  • Track tools and equipment using company asset systems (e.g., Asset Tiger, Fleetio).
3. Safety & Compliance
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and OH&S regulations.
  • Wear required PPE and follow Safe Work Practices and Safe Job Procedures.
  • Participate in toolbox meetings and complete required safety documentation (e.g., inspections, hazard assessments, incident or near‑miss reporting).
  • Maintain awareness of site‑specific hazards and contribute to a safe work environment.
4. Site Maintenance & Team Contribution
  • Maintain clean, organized, and hazard‑free job sites.
  • Assist with loading/unloading materials and securing equipment for transport.
  • Support crew productivity through reliability, punctuality, and teamwork.
  • Communicate professionally with crew members, supervisors, and clients.
  • Represent the company’s mission, vision, and values through conduct and performance.
9. General
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Seasonal Transition: Winter Services

From November through April, Park Landscaping transitions its primary operations to

comprehensive snow and ice management. During this period, all roles adapt to support our

winter service commitments. Due to the unpredictable nature of Alberta weather, this position

requires a flexible schedule, including availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays during

significant snow events to ensure the safety of our clients’ properties.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience: Previous experience in landscape maintenance, horticulture, or outdoor labour is an asset.
    • Experience operating commercial landscape equipment is an asset.
  • Education & Training: Post-secondary training in horticulture, landscaping, or related field is an asset.
    • Safety certifications (e.g., First Aid) are an asset.
  • Licensing: Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License with clean abstract is an asset.
    • Reliable transportation to job sites in Edmonton and surrounding areas is required.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to read basic site instructions and service specifications.
    • Basic proficiency with digital tools for time tracking and safety documentation (e.g., Aspire, Site Docs) is an asset.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Primarily outdoor work environment.
  • Regular exposure to varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, and snow.
  • Exposure to noise, dust, debris, and equipment vibration.
  • Frequent lifting, bending, kneeling, walking, and repetitive motion.
  • Ability to stand/walk for eight hours
  • Lift up to 50 lbs
  • Physically demanding setting with changing site and weather conditions.
