Position Overview

The Maintenance Crew Lead is responsible for performing a variety of work tasks to manage the timely completion of grounds maintenance service contracts through Winter and Summer services. The Crew Lead supervises a crew of laborers, operates tools and equipment to carry out tasks, and provides daily progress reporting on job time and cost data.

Job Duties
  • Plan and manage loading/unloading of trucks and trailers, including all daily labor, equipment, and materials.
  • Cut grass, trim edges, clean up, blow trimmings, fertilize areas, and perform other lawn care duties.
  • Snow removal in Winter season.
  • Spray areas to control weeds.
  • Perform general gardening tasks.
  • Operate power equipment including lawn tractors, lawn mowers, line trimmers, blowers, hedge trimmers, pruning saws, sod cutters, chain saws, Kabota's, Skid Steers and snow blowers.
  • Supervise crew members to ensure safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Inspect all work for quality to eliminate re‑work or return visits.
  • Train crew members on proper and safe job methods.
  • Conduct daily inspections and maintenance on vehicles, tools, and equipment.
  • Assist in construction projects, shop and yard maintenance, vehicle and equipment maintenance.
  • Complete and submit all required paperwork daily: time and service record forms, equipment inspection forms, site inspection forms, etc.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in trucks, trailers, equipment, jobsites, shop/yard areas.
  • Ensure all work activities are safe and comply with PPE standards.
  • Comply with company policies and regulations.
  • Work in accordance with local health and safety laws.
  • Communicate with customers politely and courteously.
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 full years (Summer and Winter) experience in the landscape/grounds maintenance industry.
  • Class 5 driver’s license and ability to drive a truck and trailer.
  • Capability to operate required equipment and tools safely and responsibly.
  • Effective communication skills: verbal instructions, reading labels, completing daily reports.
  • Time‑management skills.
  • Positive attitude and ability to motivate others.
  • Ability to work well with others and be open to new ideas.
  • Knowledge of specific materials, methods, tools, and equipment for landscape and construction practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to walk, stand, crouch for long periods and carry out strenuous tasks.
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
Work Conditions
  • Can use hand tools, power tools, small engine equipment, and materials.
  • Can lift a minimum of 50 lbs repeatedly throughout shift.
  • Can work physically demanding 10‑12 hour shifts.Can work in fast‑paced environment.
  • Requires good manual dexterity and excellent stamina.
  • Works near heavy equipment and other vehicles.
  • Works outdoors in varying conditions: heat, humidity, rain, dust, noise, cold.
  • Flexible working hours, including weekends and holidays.
