  • Two-year technology diploma in Forestry, Horticulture, Environmental Sciences, Landscape Technology, or a related field with two years of related work experience.
  • Journeyman Landscape Horticulturist with two years of related work experience in landscape planning and construction, urban forest management, restoration or reclamation.
  • Assets: ISA Certified Arborist or LAT accreditation; First Aid/CPR may be beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Select potential sites for naturalization, including planting plans based on site conditions.
  • Oversee and inspect contract work to ensure conformance to contracts and City standards.
  • Monitor plant materials, update geospatial maps, and respond to inquiries about Naturalization Initiatives.

Job Number: 56184The City of Edmonton is seeking a motivated and skilled Landscape Technician I - Naturalization Initiatives to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the planning, monitoring, and management of naturalized areas within the City. You will contribute to the implementation of key City plans such as Greener as We Grow, the Urban Forestry Asset Management Plan, and Edmonton's Community Energy Transition Strategy. This position is essential in supporting the City's environmental goals, including planting 2 million new trees, achieving net zero per person GHG emissions, and increasing the City's urban canopy.
