Job summary

KBL Environmental is hiring a Labourer for projects in Selkirk, MB. You will support operators and supervisors to keep sites clean, move materials, and assist with equipment maintenance.

This role may involve rail work, demolition, remediation, and rail projects across Western Canada. We value physical fitness, team collaboration, and strong communication, with commitments to safety and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks (lifting 55 lbs, etc.).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Exceptional verbal communication in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Clean construction sites.
  • Unhook rail cars and flip switches.
  • Cut scrap metal with torches following safety protocols.
  • Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment; load/unload equipment.
  • Operate heavy equipment safely and effectively.
  • Move materials on site and assist other workers.
  • Commit to working safely and following safety protocols.

We are currently looking for a Labourer. The Labourer is responsible for supporting operators and supervisors to work safely and efficiently by cleaning the site, cutting scrap metal, moving materials, performing routine maintenance on tools and equipment and may require rail work (unhooking rail cars and flipping switches) . Labourers may be responsible for the safe operation of equipment, including rock trucks and packers. Projects may include demolition, remediation, reclamation and rail projects

What You’ll Do
  • Cleaning of construction sites.
  • Unhooking rail cars and flipping switches
  • Cutting scrap metal with torches following safety protocals
  • Performing routine maintenance on tools and equipment, loading and unloading equipment.
  • Safe and effective operation of heavy equipment.
  • Working with hand tools, moving materials on construction sites, and assisting other workers.
  • Commitment to working safely and following safety protocol.
Who You Are
  • 1–2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks (lifting 55 lbs, confined spaces, heights, extended standing).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting and teamwork skills
  • Must have exceptional verbal communication skills, able to give and receive verbal information and direction in a fast-paced environment
What You Need
  • Ability and willingness to travel to work locations across Western Canada.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold, depending on location.
  • Must be willing to work, day & night shifts, up to 12 hours.
