Job summary

Suncor's Montréal refinery is seeking a Laboratory Technician to perform critical testing and analysis of refinery products, operate specialized lab equipment, and support safe, efficient operations.

You will join a unionized, shift-based team and contribute to quality control across the site, with DEC in Analytical Chemistry or a chemistry degree and strong French communication skills.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in a quality control laboratory in petrochemical or chemical processing
• DEC in Analytical Chemistry or BSc in Chemistry
• Knowledge of IT data management systems
• Fluent French communication, both oral and written

Responsibilities

• Work in different laboratory sections with equipment (distiller, flash point, density meter, viscometer, titrator, sulfur analyzer) to analyze products
• Take samples from refinery intermediate and finished product tanks
• Save samples in LMMS system
• Perform equipment calibration
• Participate in firefighting training and be a member of the fire team on shifts
• Attend health and safety meetings
• Assist in other tasks ensuring proper laboratory operations

Minimum Requirements:

• One to three years of relevant experience in a quality control laboratory in the petrochemical industrial sector or in a chemical process
• DEC in Analytical Chemistry or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry
• Knowledge of IT data management systems
• Excellent ability to communicate in French, both orally and in writing
• A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

Responsibilities:

• Work in the different sections of the laboratory and various equipment such as distiller, flash point, density meter, viscometer, titrator, sulfur analyzer and many others in order to analyze all our intermediate and finished products
• Conduct sampling of the refinery's intermediate and finished product tanks
• Saving samples in the LMMS system
• Perform equipment calibration
• Participate in firefighting training and be a member of the fire team on shifts
• Participate in health and safety meetings
• All other tasks contributing to the proper functioning of the laboratory's operations
