Job summary

Suncor Energy's Montréal Refinery seeks a Laboratory Technician to perform testing and analysis of refinery products, operate specialized equipment, and support safe, efficient operations on site.

The role requires 1–3 years in QC lab in the petrochemical or chemical process sector, and relevant educational credentials; fluency in French; a valid driver’s license; and a strong commitment to quality and safety.

Qualifications

• Requirements include DEC in Analytical Chemistry or a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry.
• Experience in a quality control laboratory in petrochemical or chemical process sectors preferred.
• Strong IT data management skills and ability to operate laboratory software.
• Fluency in French, written and spoken.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing and analysis of refinery products across lab sections.
• Conduct sampling of intermediate and finished product tanks.
• Save samples in the LMMS system.
• Perform equipment calibration.
• Participate in health and safety meetings.
• Be part of fire team on shifts.
• Support proper functioning of laboratory operations.

As a Laboratory Technician, you’ll perform critical testing and analysis of refinery products, operate specialized laboratory equipment, and support safe, efficient operations across the site. Minimum Requirements:

• One to three years of relevant experience in a quality control laboratory in the petrochemical industrial sector or in a chemical process
• DEC in Analytical Chemistry or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry
• Knowledge of IT data management systems
• Excellent ability to communicate in French, both orally and in writing
• A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

Responsibilities:

• Work in the different sections of the laboratory and various equipment such as distiller, flash point, density meter, viscometer, titrator, sulfur analyzer and many others in order to analyze all our intermediate and finished products
• Conduct sampling of the refinery’s intermediate and finished product tanks
• Saving samples in the LMMS system
• Perform equipment calibration
• Participate in firefighting training and be a member of the fire team on shifts
• Participate in health and safety meetings
• All other tasks contributing to the proper functioning of the laboratory’s operations
