Job summary

CBM Ready-Mix, part of Canada Building Materials, seeks a Laboratory Technician (Student) in Toronto. The role supports testing of concrete, aggregate and cement, with May–December 2026 availability. You will set up lab equipment, document results, and assist with maintaining the facility. Strong communication and basic Excel skills are required.

Currently enrolled in a CET program or graduated, plus a valid driver’s license, are essential. CCIL/CSA testing certifications are a plus.

  • Good communication and computer skills with basic Excel knowledge.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to work in Ontario.

Responsibilities

  • Set up laboratory equipment and instrumentation for tests.
  • Test and analyze concrete, aggregate and cement samples.
  • Document test results and analyses.
  • Conduct maintenance for the lab facility.
  • Plan efficient use of materials and equipment.
  • Perform statistical analyses and report on cement/concrete performance.

CBM Ready-Mix is seeking a Laboratory Technician (Student), based in Toronto.

This position is for Students available between May – December 2026.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Set up laboratory equipment and instrumentation required to perform test, investigations, research and/or process control.
  • Tests and analyzes products such as concrete, aggregate and cement for plastic and hardened requirements.
  • Documents result of tests and analyses.
  • Prepares chemical solutions for use in processing materials, following standardized formulas or experimental procedures.
  • Conducts maintenance for the laboratory facility
  • Plans for efficient use of materials and equipment
  • Performs statistical analyses and reports on cement and concrete performance to identify raw material quality.
  • Completed, maintains and processes pertinent paperwork and records.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in Civil Engineering Technician (CET) program, or similar program OR have graduated from the same.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Fundamental knowledge of computer software (Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel)
  • Valid drivers license
  • CCIL/CSA certifications for testing concrete/aggregate would be an asset.
