Job summary

Alberta Precision Labs (APL) in Fort McMurray is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant I to join our fast-paced public laboratory team. You will perform venipuncture, processing and testing of specimens, and report results to physicians with accuracy and efficiency.

Responsibilities include specimen handling, dispatching, and ensuring high-quality service in a patient-facing PSC, while adhering to safety protocols. A accredited MLA program and phlebotomy/ECG certification are required.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy experience and ECG certification are required.
• At least 2 years of recent phlebotomy experience and ECG experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality service to clients in the clinical laboratory and perform venipuncture, testing and reporting of results.
• Handle, process, dispatch and test specimens following lab procedures.
• Monitor wait times and maintain efficient, patient-centered PSC operations.
• Adhere to safety and infection control protocols at all times.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Previous Phlebotomy experience and ECG certification.In addition to a competitive rate of pay, APL currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Preferred Qualifications:

At least 2 years of recent phlebotomy experience.ECG experience.
