Job summary

Alberta Precision Labs in Spruce Grove is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant I to join the Patient Service Centre team. You will perform a variety of laboratory functions including phlebotomy, ECGs, specimen handling, processing, and reporting results in a fast-paced, public-facing setting.

The position involves rotating shifts from 0700-1900 Monday to Friday and every third Saturday, with potential work at Onoway and Evansburg PSCs.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
• Previous Phlebotomy experience and ECG certification.
• At least 2 years of recent phlebotomy experience and ECG experience.

Responsibilities

• Procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens.
• Perform phlebotomy and ECGs; monitor wait times to ensure quality patient service.
• Provide high quality service in a fast-paced, public-facing laboratory setting.

The team at Spruce Grove Patient Service Centre (PSC), is looking to add a highly engaged, enthusiastic, and outgoing Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our team in this fast-paced, public-facing location. Here you will have the opportunity to work both independently and as a member of our team where you will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions, including phlebotomy, ECGs and monitoring wait times to ensure you are providing the best service to your patients.In this role you will be the first contact that patients have with the laboratory. This environment allows you the ability to adapt and work effectively under pressure, utilize time management skills, and prioritize tasks within this ever-changing environment.Your organization and communication skills will help you collaborate and maintain positive working relationships with internal stakeholders and other health care professionals.This position works rotating shift between 0700-1900 hours from Monday to Friday and every third Saturday from 0700-1530 hours at Spruce Grove PSC. This position also works at Onoway and Evansburg PSC as needed.
