Job summary

LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services is hiring for a Lab Patient Technician in London, Ontario. This part-time regular float role focuses on patient-centered specimen collection, phlebotomy, ECG tracing, and ensuring proper test protocols are followed.

The successful candidate will have a Laboratory Assistant background, phlebotomy experience, good communication, and accurate data entry skills while maintaining patient privacy and high service standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy experience is an asset.
• ECG training or experience is an asset.
• Excellent communication and computer skills (minimum 40 wpm).
• Strong customer/patient service with empathy and adaptability.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and request required information, explain the specimen collection process and ensure protocol is followed.
• Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings.
• Prepare specimens for transportation and testing; complete related documentation.
• Maintain client relationships and respond to inquiries; follow up on requests.
• Complete data entry of patient demographics and requisition information.
