Job summary

Lifemark Health Group in Edmonton, AB is seeking a Kinesiologist to promote client healing and improve recovery time. The role supports an employment program by tailoring strategies to enhance physical health and readiness for work, leveraging exercise science to develop personalized plans.

The successful candidate will work with program staff to reduce barriers to employment and improve overall health, with emphasis on group lectures, client education, and coordinated community resources.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of university Kinesiology degree program.
  • Experience with individuals with disabilities, injuries, or chronic health conditions, preferably in vocational rehabilitation or occupational health.
  • Registration with the appropriate Provincial governing body for Kinesiologists is required.
  • Experience with mindfulness and/or yoga is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and supervise graded exercise, work conditioning and/or work hardening programs.
  • Work cooperatively with clients to set and achieve functional goals.
  • Conduct group orientation and education lectures and regular one-on-one education to clients.
  • Connecting participants with appropriate community resources, available through the Government of Alberta, Federal Government Services, and local agencies and service providers.
  • Timely report writing, following current templates, guides, standards, and processes.
  • Record keeping and maintaining paper and electronic files.

The Kinesiologist plays a pivotal role in the employment program by providing tailored support to participants aimed at enhancing their physical health and well-being, thereby optimizing their readiness for employment. Leveraging their expertise in human movement and exercise science, the Kinesiologist collaborates closely with program staff and participants to develop personalized strategies for improving physical fitness, reducing barriers to employment, and promoting overall health.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Graduate of university Kinesiology degree program
  • 2+ years of experience considered an asset
  • Registration with theappropriate Provincialgoverning body for Kinesiologists isrequired
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities, injuries, or chronic health conditions, preferably in a vocational rehabilitation or occupational health setting. Understanding of Vocational Rehabilitation an asset
  • Experience withmindfulnessand/or yoga an asset
  • An excellent understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity
  • Sensitivity to learning limitations that may be present with participants
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills
  • Outstanding teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Security background checkrequired
