TEACHER : GRADE KINDERGARTEN
Chief Tallcree Elementary, South Tallcree, AB - 2025-2026 School Year
Tallcree Education Division is seeking highly motivated individuals. If you are an Alberta Certified Teacher and would like to live in a small remote northern community, work with and serve Indigenous children and youth, then Tallcree Education is the place for you.

Chief Tallcree Elementary School offers small class sizes, providing excellent opportunities for differentiated teaching and learning. This role offers a positive professional growth opportunity to explore innovative practices within an inquiry-based teaching environment that honours Tallcree ways of knowing, being, and doing. We welcome teachers who are student-centered and demonstrate:

  1. Education and experience specific to elementary teaching in a multi-grade classroom.
  2. Successful experience with Indigenous Curriculum.
  3. Enhanced understanding of First Nations worldviews, cultural beliefs, language, and values.

  5. Excellent knowledge of the Programs of Study and learning outcomes of the Alberta Curriculum relevant to the position.
  6. Proficiency in principles and practices of differentiated teaching and inclusive education.
  7. Excellent planning, teaching, and assessment skills.
  8. Respect for Indigenous learning and learners, with knowledge of the Tallcree Nation (preferred).
  9. Ability to create engaging and innovative programs that promote pride and achievement.
  10. Instructional leadership ensuring high-quality learning experiences.
  11. Experience engaging students through land-based teaching and learning.
  12. Commitment to being a team player and believing that all students can learn and want to learn.
  13. Ability to establish meaningful rapport with students and connect in trusting, supportive ways.
  14. Support for students’ learning and personal goals to ensure their success.
  15. Experience with Trauma-Informed Practice.
  16. Ability to build strong relationships with parents, Elders, School Board, staff, and community members.
  17. Commitment to ongoing professional growth.
  18. Willingness to support extracurricular activities and be active in the community.

The Teacher will be responsible for overseeing daily instruction, developing effective classroom experiences, and ensuring student engagement, safety, and success. The role requires leadership, collaboration with the Educational Assistant, and overseeing schedules and activities.

Qualifications include:

  • Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate.
  • Successful teaching experience.
  • Knowledge of provincial curriculum outcomes.
  • Understanding of First Nations Language, Culture, Organizations, and Communities (asset).

Conditions of employment:

  • RCMP / Police Criminal Record Check and Intervention Record Check prior to employment.
