Temporary (0.5 FTE) Kindergarten Teacher

We are seeking a teacher who:

  • Will design an early learning program that encourages curiosity, self-expression, communication & problem solving;
  • Works diligently to build a strong rapport with students to create a safe, caring & welcoming learning environment;
  • Is willing to build a relationship with the community by incorporating and celebrating the rich cultural history that the Stavely Community offers;
  • Understands the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and will integrate the Leader in Me in the class;
  • Is knowledgeable of and has experience in teaching balanced literacy with a sound reading and writing practice (ex: UFLI);
  • Is knowledgeable of and has experience in incorporating numeracy skills across the curriculum;
  • Possesses a deep understanding of current outcomes based assessment practices;
  • Utilizes a variety of pedagogical approaches based on best practice;
  • Demonstrates the ability to design innovative, integrated, place-based units allowing students to develop and use critical thinking skills and 21st century competencies;
  • Effectively integrates fine arts and leverages technology across the curriculum;
  • Supports the inclusive education model by demonstrating the ability to ensure success for students with diverse academic, behavioral, emotional, and/or cultural needs within the classroom setting;
  • Demonstrates a passion for working with an ethnically diverse group of students, including First Nations Métis and Inuit students;
  • Is a reflective practitioner who engages in professional learning to grow in areas reflected in the TQS;
  • Possesses strong organizational and classroom management skills.

The successful candidate must be in possession of, or eligible for, an Alberta Teaching Certificate. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position will commence on August 25, 2025.

Located in Stavely, Alberta, Stavely School is a Leader in Me Lighthouse School. It is a K-6 school with approximately 90 students. At Stavely School, the staff, families, community and students work together to build a strong school community with outstanding academic and athletic programs.
