Job summary

Upper Canada District School Board is seeking a Registered Early Childhood Educator to work with the classroom teacher in planning, implementing, and assessing kindergarten learning experiences. The educator will collaborate with families and staff to support student growth and well-being.

The successful candidate will be registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators, bring 2–3 years of related experience, and may work in English and/or French classroom settings.

Qualifications

• University degree in early childhood development or a 2-year post-secondary diploma in Early Childhood Education.
• Registration in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
• Minimum of 2–3 years recent experience in related child care.
• Assignments may include English and/or French classroom settings.

Responsibilities

• Works collaboratively with teaching staff to achieve goals.
• Plans and delivers appropriate learning experiences for students in the kindergarten program.
• Provides supervision and ensures the safety of students in the absence of the teacher.
• Supervises students during nutrition breaks, rest periods, or other breaks.
• Creates a safe, healthy, and inclusive environment emphasizing wellbeing and safety.
• Observes and protects children from unsafe situations while supporting their well-being and learning.
• Supports student development through individual play experiences; fosters social skills through play.
• Leads small and large group learning experiences; maintains positive communications with guardians.
• Collects data through observation and conversations for learning communications; collaborates on program adjustments.
