Job summary

Foremost is seeking a full-time Junior Safety Advisor at our Stettler facility who reports to the HSE & HR Senior Manager. The role supports development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company’s health and safety programs, working closely with the Safety Manager, supervisors and employees, and assisting with inspections, hazard assessments and training.

Qualifications

  • Certificate, diploma, or post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, or related discipline.
  • 1–3 years of health and safety experience in an industrial environment is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Alberta Occupational Health and Safety legislation is an asset.
  • Familiarity with hazard assessments, incident investigations, workplace inspections, and safe work procedures.
  • Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook and electronic recordkeeping systems.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation and administration of health and safety policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections across shop, warehouse, yard and equipment areas.
  • Assist with hazard assessments, FLHAs, JHAs and safe work procedures.
  • Identify workplace hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist with incident investigations, injury, near-miss and property-damage reviews.
  • Track corrective actions from inspections, audits and investigations to ensure completion.
  • Participate in toolbox and safety meetings, orientations and related activities.
  • Assist with new employee and contractor safety orientations.
  • Maintain accurate HSE records, inspection reports, training documents and safety statistics.
  • Support WHMIS, PPE, emergency response, first aid and other safety programs.
  • Help develop and revise safe work practices, forms, checklists and safety communications.
  • Monitor compliance with safety requirements and applicable legislation.
  • Provide day-to-day safety guidance to employees and supervisors.
  • Encourage participation in hazard identification and incident prevention.
  • Assist with internal and external safety audits and documentation.
  • Participate in emergency drills and preparedness activities.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and industry practices.

Foremost is seeking a full-time Junior Safety Advisor located at our Stettler facility who reports into the HSE & HR Senior Manager. The Junior Safety Advisor supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company’s health and safety programs. Working closely with the Safety Manager, supervisors, and employees, this position assists with workplace inspections, hazard assessments, incident investigations, safety documentation, employee training, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation and administration of company health and safety policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Conduct regular workplace, shop, warehouse, yard, and equipment safety inspections.
  • Assist supervisors and employees with hazard assessments, Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHAs), Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs), and safe work procedures.
  • Identify workplace hazards and recommend practical corrective actions.
  • Assist with incident, injury, near-miss, and property-damage investigations.
  • Track corrective actions resulting from inspections, audits, hazard reports, and incident investigations to ensure completion.
  • Participate in toolbox meetings, safety meetings, orientations, and other safety-related activities.
