Bartle & Gibson Co. in Edmonton is seeking a dynamic Junior Recruiter & HR Assistant to join our Head Office team. You will support full-cycle recruitment and HR administration, coordinating interviews and managing employee records.

This role reports to the HR Manager, requires strong communication and meticulous attention to detail, and may involve occasional travel for onboarding at other branches.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or certificate in HR preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with UKG HRIS is an asset.
  • Experience with ATS and recruitment processes is an asset.
  • Basic knowledge of employment laws and confidentiality requirements is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support full-cycle recruitment for entry-to-mid roles: postings, screening, assessments, references.
  • Coordinate interview scheduling with hiring managers and communicate updates.
  • Serve as first contact for recruiting inquiries and escalate to HR as needed.
  • Assist with onboarding processes.
  • Review and maintain job descriptions for accuracy and compliance.
  • Support day-to-day HR administration and records management.
  • Assist with HR projects and processes as required.

Job description

We now have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, detail‑oriented individual to join our Human Resources team as a Junior Recruiter & HR Assistant at Bartle & Gibson’s Head Office in Edmonton. The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator, extremely detail‑oriented, and able to work independently.

Reporting directly to the Human Resources Manager, this dual‑function role supports both recruitment and HR administration. You will assist with sourcing and screening candidates, coordinating interviews, maintaining employee records, and ensuring HR processes run smoothly.

The salary range for this position is $42,000 - $47,000

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support full‑cycle recruitment for entry‑level and intermediate roles, including posting vacancies, screening resumes, administering assessments, coordinating background checks, drafting offer letters, and completing reference checks.
  • Coordinate interview scheduling with hiring managers and maintain consistent communication as required.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for recruiting inquiries and elevate concerns to senior HR team members as needed.
  • Assist with launching the onboarding process
  • Review, update, and maintain job descriptions to ensure accuracy, alignment with current duties, and compliance with organizational and legislative requirements.
  • Other duties as required
HR Administration & Employee Support
  • Assist with day‑to‑day HR department operations.
  • Support new hire orientations alongside the HR Coordinator, including occasional travel to other branches to facilitate onsite onboarding when required.
  • Manage employee records across the HRIS and Learning Management System (LMS), including adding new employees, updating existing information, and removing former employees while ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and data integrity.
  • Prepare announcements, memos, and internal communications upon request.
  • Assist with exit interviews.
  • Manage monthly HR‑related invoices with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Other duties as required
HR Projects, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
  • Assist with HRIS feature updates, enhancements, and communication to employees and managers.
  • Attend webinars and make notes to ensure the HR team remains up to date with new policies.
  • Support HR projects, events, and company functions as required.
  • Help ensure compliance with labour regulations and internal policies.
  • Contribute to the department’s continuous improvement culture.
  • Other duties as required
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize duties, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Self‑motivated and able to work independently or collaboratively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; approachable and responsive.
  • High accuracy in handling employee records, contracts, and compliance documentation.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing HR needs, policies, and business requirements.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
  • Diploma or Certificate in Human Resources preferred, or equivalent experience an asset.
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems (UKG) is considered an asset.
  • Experience with applicant tracking systems (ATS) and recruitment processes is an asset.
  • Basic knowledge of employment laws, confidentiality requirements, and HR policies is preferred.
