Job summary

Primoris Mine Services LP (Canada) is seeking a Junior Field Engineer to support the project team with technical review, subcontractor coordination, and material control at the Syncrude Aurora site. Fort McMurray local accommodations or camp provided, with start TBD and potential shifts in July or October.

The role involves assisting with execution plans, schedules, budgets, and RFIs, while upholding safety values and contributing to continuous project control and quality assurance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or diploma in engineering technology and 0-2 years on industrial construction.
  • Basic understanding of project controls and scheduling is preferred.
  • Industrial construction experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to project teams, reviewing client documentation and codes.
  • Liaise with client management via RFIs and Change Management documentation.
  • Support Primoris Canada’s Safety Values on site.
  • Assist with execution plans, schedules and budget estimates.
  • Prepare materials and subcontractor requisitions and evaluate materials.
  • Assist with constructability reviews and site drawings control.
  • Coordinate bids and planning for subcontractors and awards.
  • Maintain project drawings, specs, RFIs and revisions in document control.
  • Identify and track scope changes with cost/schedule impacts.
  • Develop pay items and WBS with PM for reporting needs.
  • Measure field progress with project controls and update schedules.
  • Assist with material take-offs from drawings and QA/QC tasks.

Job Overview:SUMMARYThe Field Engineer (Junior) is an integral part of the project team responsible for providing technical support to the project manager and site superintendent with Subcontractor coordination, material coordinating, estimating, engineering, and/or project control activities.Location: Syncrude Aurora siteStart: TBD - Expression of InterestShift: TBD - 10/4 or 14/7Accommodations: Fort McMurray local or Camp providedJOB DUTIESProvide technical support to project teams, including review of client-supplied documentation, calculations, recommendations and interpretation of applicable codes.Liaise with client’s construction management team through Requests for Information (RFI) and Change Management documentation.Support and uphold Primoris Canada’s Safety Values.Assist with the preparation of execution plans, schedules and budget estimates.Assist with the preparation of Materials and Subcontractor Requisitions, including specifying the materials or scope of work to be procured as well as research approved alternative materials and products.Provide assistance to the Site Superintendent with constructability reviews of future projects.Bid coordination and planning including preparation of scope of work documentation for sub-contractors, evaluation of sub-contractor quotations, and supporting project manager with award of sub-contracts.Assist with the receipt, tracking, distribution and maintenance of current project drawings, specifications, RFIs and revisions in accordance with project document-control procedures.Assist with identifying, documenting and tracking changes in scope, including compiling supporting quantities, records and information for evaluation of cost and schedule impacts.Identify and setup pay items and develop WBS with Project Management Team to align with internal and external reporting requirements and project estimate.Work with project controls to measure and validate field progress on scope and additional work as well as updating project schedule.Understand project scope of work and general overview of project contract.Support with completion of material take-offs from project drawings.Assist Quality Control with site inspections, document turnover, and completion of as-built drawings.Various other duties as requested by management.QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in engineering or diploma in engineering technology from a recognized post-secondary institution.0-2 years of experience on industrial construction projectsBasic understanding of Project Controls and SchedulingIndustrial construction experience is considered an assetSKILLSAble to interact with all levels of managementBasic knowledge of project controls principlesStrong technical and analytical skillsProficiency in use of MS Office productsAbility to support multiple projects and meet deadlinesSkill in developing policy and procedure documentation is an assetWorking knowledge of construction and engineering services is preferredAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variable situations with limited standardizationExcellent problem-solving skillsStrong verbal and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse communityAdvocate of team concept and collaborate effectively with others#LI-AK1
