REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The position requires CAD/CAD certification or an Engineering design diploma or equivalent education in engineering design and technology. Registered or actively pursuing registration for SASTT accreditation. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
JOB SCOPE
The incumbent undertakes a mix of routine and diverse duties requiring knowledge of electrical and mechanical standards, practices and procedures. Assists with design projects requiring short- to medium- term planning. Maintains effective working relations with stakeholders throughout assigned projects. Deals with vendors, manufacturers, and technical support experts. Communications with others typically involve straightforward exchanges of information including design related terminology and concepts. Listens in order to clarify. Combines experience with creativity in exploring design solutions.
EFFORT
Tasks require concentration in order to ensure standards for accuracy and attention to detail are met. Interruptions are disruptive due to the focused nature of the tasks. Project related assignments involve working with, and depending on, others. This may cause stress, depending on the quality of the relationships and/or of own and others’ work. Problems need to be identified before they can be addressed.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The incumbent works in an office environment. Occasionally makes site visits.
