Job summary

Team Power Solutions is seeking a results-driven leader to drive growth in our Safety & Compliance business unit in Canada. You will lead proactive outreach to health, safety, and industrial clients, collaborate with internal teams, and oversee training program delivery and quote development.

You will manage relationships with key stakeholders, guide proposals, and help shape annual plans and budgets, contributing to sustained profitability and customer satisfaction.

POSITION MANDATE

Directly responsible for driving growth and commercial success for Team Power Solution's Safety & Compliance business unit. Focuses on generating new revenue via proactive outreach (Teams, phone, email, in-person meetings) to existing and prospective health, safety, and industrial clients. Collaborates with internal technical/estimating teams to produce competitive, high-margin quotes, while overseeing external safety training programs to ensure quality and customer satisfaction.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

  • Proactively prospect and initiate client outreach (MS Teams, phone, email, selective face-to-face engagements).
  • Engage with HSE officers and industrial stakeholders; represent the organization at safety tradeshows and networking events.
  • Nurture existing accounts to expand safety compliance, audit, and training course delivery.
  • Maintain accurate lead tracking and sales pipeline data within CRM tools.

Content Development and Delivery:

  • Direct the development of digital platform delivery (external) and internal content creation.
  • Review and approve training content and storyboards for virtual courses.
  • Ensure timely and successful delivery of training services.

Customer Relations and Sales:

  • Assist in the development of proposals, quotes, contracts, and customer follow ups in collaboration with the contracts & estimating team.
  • Initiate and develop new customer relationships while nurturing existing ones.
  • Measure satisfaction and identify opportunities for new or improved services.

Strategic Planning and Operational Efficiency:

  • Collaborate with the BD Manager in preparing the annual department operational plan and budget.
  • Oversee budgeting, resource allocation, and financial reporting processes.
  • Attend meetings to coordinate staff and service delivery activities, assess productivity and profitability, and plan for continuous improvements and growth.

Internal Collaboration:

  • Build and maintain collaborative working relations with managers and leaders to streamline initiatives and promote a cohesive work environment.
  • Align safety outreach initiatives with broader Business Development strategy.
  • Address problems and implement appropriate solutions with impact beyond the department.
  • Encourage collaborations across projects and actively model the organization’s mission, vision, and core values.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Education & Experience: A relevant post-secondary degree or diploma is required, along with industry experience that includes a proven track record in sales and some supervisory/managerial background. (An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.)
  • Results-Oriented: You have a knack for exceeding goals, generating revenue, and optimizing efficiency within a sales context.
  • People Person: You're a natural relationship builder, as comfortable with clients as you are mentoring your team.
  • Strategic Thinker: You see the big picture – analyzing trends, identifying opportunities, and driving the department's growth alongside new sales.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Departmental productivity numbers meet expectations: billable work is high while overhead is low, profit margins indicate competent quotes and efficient work execution, returns on staff training and development are measurably apparent.
  • Work in progress is tracked and adjusted to manage budgeted versus actual time and other costs.
  • The quality of training deliverables meets all standards.
  • Customer feedback is positive and/or candid, indicating the trust characteristic of long term relationships.
  • Repeat business and referrals from current customers are common occurrences.
  • A smart balance exists between available training technology/support and customer requirements.
  • Strong ties exist with all managers and leaders in support of collaborative relationships and initiatives.
  • Department staff are carefully selected and mindfully integrated into the team.
  • Staff willingly take on the work and their deliverables meet expectations.
  • Staff needs are met, including due consideration of family and personal requests balanced with operational requirements.
  • A steady path forward for the department, defined by professional and department growth, is in place and broadly communicated.

JOB SCOPE

  • The incumbent is a professional with central responsibility for the business growth of training, electrical safety audit, arc flash studies services.
  • Provides leadership to the department with core accountabilities for business results, the quality of deliverables, customer relations, and staff productivity and development.
  • Possesses an understanding and knowledge of how departmental operations fit into those of other units and develops strong relationships/networks with managers and leaders within the organization to achieve internal and external objectives.
  • Holds logistical and supervisory responsibility for departmental resources (human, financial, physical).
  • Drives the department’s successful operations by working through others. Provides leadership and advice and influences the course for the department by developing and implementing plans, policies and services.
  • Recruits and develops department staff, with particular attention to direct reports who are accountable for developing others.
  • Draws on the expertise of others and consults as appropriate. Makes final decisions on recommendations from others and is accountable for subsequent results.
  • Handles all disciplinary matters within the departments up to and including termination.
  • Exercises good judgement regarding when to inform and/or consult with senior leaders on matters of significance.

EFFORT

  • The work is high volume and complex, and department-wide decisions ranging from the mundane to the critical are required on a routine basis.
  • Reviews own and others’ work and provides problem-solving guidance. Concentration is required for planning and dealing with multiple projects with competing priorities.
  • The incumbent routinely addresses internal and external complexities impeding the delivery of service. Deals with emerging and unpredictable events in a time sensitive and timely manner. Difficult decisions are expected. Mental stress may vary depending on the complexity of assignments and conflicting priorities related to problem solving. Must meet deadlines imposed by internal and external requirements.
  • The incumbent delegates supervisory or oversight authority and ensures its appropriate use by providing feedback and guidance as required. Ensures the support, supervision, evaluation and development of direct reports and of all department staff as appropriate.
  • Implements effective programs to recruit, retain, train and motivate staff. Ensures performance reviews are conducted for all department staff according to established timelines and procedures.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The incumbent works in office environment as well as customer sites as may be required from time to time.
