Job summary

Tetra Tech is seeking an Electrical Drafter – Team Lead for our Power team in Mississauga, Ontario, with the role performable from anywhere in Canada. Lead a team of drafters, coordinate drawings, and deliver high-quality electrical designs.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited institute program in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Technology/Technician or related discipline.
  • OACETT certification or eligibility for certification is preferred.
  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant electrical drafting/design experience, preferably in consulting, utility, transmission/distribution, or energy environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring, or coordinating drafting/design teams.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD or REVIT.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Canadian electrical and safety codes, standards, and utility requirements.

Position Summary:

We are currently seeking an Electrical Drafter – Team Lead for our Power team. This is a new vacant position for which we are actively recruiting. Essential Job Functions:

Lead, coordinate, and support a team of electrical drafters/designers in the preparation of project drawings and technical deliverables.

Prepare and review complex electrical drawings, diagrams, layouts, construction details, material lists, and related documentation for overhead and underground transmission/distribution systems.

Perform and/or support design and technical calculations as required for project deliverables.

Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and compliance with client standards, company procedures, and applicable codes and regulations.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate drafting staff.

Assign drafting tasks, monitor workload, and support the timely completion of project deliverables.

Coordinate with engineers, project managers, clients, and other internal stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve design or drafting issues.

Exercise sound judgement and initiative in completing complex assignments and determining appropriate drafting methods and approaches.

Support the development and maintenance of drafting standards, templates, procedures, and quality control practices.

Assist in identifying project risks, drafting conflicts, and constructability concerns, and recommend practical solutions.

Participate in project meetings and provide status updates related to drafting progress, resource needs, and deliverable schedules.

Ensure work is completed in accordance with applicable safety standards, including relevant Canadian codes and utility requirements.

Required Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited institute program inElectrical, Civil, or Mechanical Technology/Technicianor a related discipline.

  • Working knowledge of substations, overhead and underground electrical transmission and distribution systems.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with applicable Canadian electrical and safety codes, standards, and utility requirements.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with theMicrosoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to exercise sound judgement.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also completing assignments independently.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit or stand as required and remain in a stationary position for at least 50% of the workday.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, including continuous operation of a computer and other standard office equipment such as calculators, copiers, and printers.
  • The majority of work is performed in a professional office setting.
  • Periodic travel may be required and could involve limited exposure to extreme temperatures. Travel may include air travel, during which the employee may be required to remain seated for extended periods.

The salary range for this position is $100,000to$150,000.
