Job summary

Tetra Tech Canada Inc. in Pickering, ON seeks an Electrical Designer to join the CNU Division. You will design and document electrical systems in a BIM-first workflow, manage BIM data, and coordinate with multiple design disciplines while advancing digital workflows and cloud-based tools.

The role requires experience with Revit, ACC, and related BIM tools, plus knowledge of electrical codes. Strong communication and timely delivery across concurrent projects are essential.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Revit and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC).
  • Experience with BIM tools such as Microstation, OpenUtilities Substation, AVEVA E3D, Inventor, AutoCAD Electrical, etc.
  • Knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code C22.1 and electrical standards is a plus.
  • Graduation from an accredited Electrical/Civil/Mechanical Eng program or Technology.
  • P.Eng or OACETT certification is advantageous.
  • 5+ years of design/drafting experience in consulting and/or energy sectors.
  • Ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively.

  • Prepare complex BIM models using Revit.
  • Maintain and develop standard Revit families and BIM data.
  • Develop workflows to integrate BIM models with Point Clouds for brownfield projects.
  • Adopt and administer tools for digital engineering using cloud platforms (ACC, Cintoo, Procore, ETAP).
  • Integrate vendor designs/3D models and develop workflows across design tools like Bentley, Siemens NX, SolidWorks.
  • Develop workflows to automate BOM generation from Revit schedules and electrical analyses.
  • Lead multi-discipline design teams to complete projects on time.
  • Produce high-quality drawings with BIM-first approach while following drafting standards.
  • Document and track project tasks and related design documents.

Your Role

We are currently seeking an Electrical Designer for our Pickering, ON office. This posting is for an existing vacancy for which we are actively recruiting. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Responsibilities
  • Prepare complex BIM models using Revit and other BIM tools.
  • Maintain and develop standard Revit families and BIM data requirements in a fast-paced environment.
  • Develop workflows to integrate BIM models with Point Clouds to facilitate design for brownfield.
  • Adopt and administrate new tools to drive the digital transformation of engineering, construction, and design using cloud technologies such as the Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), Cintoo, Procore, integration with analysis software (ETAP), etc.
  • Integrate vendor designs/ 3D models ensuring integrity of BIM data is maintained by developing new workflows for different design authoring tools such as Bentley Microstation, Siemens NX, Solidworks, etc.
  • Develop new workflows to streamline and automate generation of deliverables such as Bill of Materials using Revit schedules, Single Line Diagram's (SLDs), Load/ Cable Lists and electrical analysis using the BIM model.
  • Lead and collaborate with other design disciplines to integrate and complete multi-discipline designs.
  • Develop and detail high quality drawings, with strong attention to detail using a BIM-first workflow while also adhering to drafting standards.
  • The ideal candidate will be capable of committing to and maintaining project timelines while working on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • The ability to document and track project tasks and related design documents is required.
Qualifications
  • Must be proficient in Revit and the Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)
  • Hands-on experience wiring, assembling, testing, or repairing electrical enclosures, PLCs, equipment/ control devices, fixtures, etc. as an electrical technician is considered a strong asset.
  • Must be an adept problem solver, driven to innovate, and keen to work with a multi-disciplinary mindset.
  • Experience with other BIM tools such as Bentley Microstation, OpenUtilities Substation, AVEVA E3D, Inventor, AutoCAD Electrical, etc. is considered a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code C22.1 and electrical standards is considered an asset.
  • Experience using ETAP electrical analysis software is considered an asset.
  • Graduation from an accredited institute program in Electrical/Civil/Mechanical Engineering or Technology.
  • P. Eng or OACETT Certification is considered an asset.
  • 5+ years of relevant design and drafting experience in consulting and/or Energy industry is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills is required.
  • Ability to work effectively while managing multiple tasks.
Compensation

The expected annual compensation range for this position is $77,000-$115,000. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining compensation, including but not limited to education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.

Additional Information

A requirement of working for Tetra Tech is that you are at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.)
