Job description

We are looking for a driven Junior Accountant to join a team in the Construction sector located in downtown Toronto.

Position: Junior Accountant

Location: Downtown Toronto

Industry: Construction

Type: 3-month contract with high potential to convert to permanent

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of accounting experience across all aspects of the function
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration or accounting
• Experience with QuickBooks or similar systems is required
• Experience in a similar industry is an asset

Responsibilities

• Process vendor invoices, ensuring proper coding and approvals
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
• Prepare and process payments via checks, ACH, and wire transfers
• Generate and send invoices to clients based on project milestones
• Monitor customer accounts for outstanding balances and follow up on collections
• Apply payments and reconcile accounts to ensure accurate records
• Perform monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards, and other balance sheet accounts
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly
• Record journal entries related to accruals, prepaids, and expense allocations
• Assist in maintaining the general ledger and ensuring proper recording of transactions
• Support financial statement preparation by reconciling accounts and verifying data
• Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for management review
• Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure timely and accurate month-end close
