Job summary

Waiward Industrial LP in Edmonton, AB is hiring Journeyperson Structural Steel & Plate Fitters for permanent, full-time roles in a large fabrication shop. The work includes assembly, fitting, installation, and fabrication of metal components for structures and products.

Ideal candidates will read blueprints, demonstrate rigging knowledge, and maintain safety standards; overtime and long-term employment opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Must be a registered apprentice, Alberta-certified journeyperson or hold a valid recognized credential, or possess the skills and knowledge expected of a journeyperson.
• CWB Transferable Welder Qualification (including Tack Welder) is required.
• Certified Overhead Crane Operator Certification is an asset (can be internally delivered).
• Demonstrates a solid understanding of reading blueprints both in metric and imperial.
• Basic and Advanced Rigging Course is an asset.
• FLHA Training is an asset.
• Respirator Mask Fit Testing Required.
• Ability to lift up to 45 pounds.
• WHMIS.

Responsibilities

• Displays a commitment to Waiward’s incident-free vision, values, and culture.
• Read blueprints and specifications to determine the materials necessary to lay out work.
• Assemble and fit metal section and plates to form complete units or subunits using tack welding, bolting, or other methods.
• Lay out reference points and patterns according to component specifications.
• Grind, stamp, cut and drill material.
• Complete housekeeping tasks.
• Attend daily toolbox meetings.
• Demonstrate a willingness to learn and ask questions.
• Consistently complete tasks with minimal errors, rejections and NCR’s.
• Ensure that all non-conformances are reported and that the shop maintains ISO-9001 integrity.
