Job summary

Boardwalk in Calgary is seeking a Journeyman Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic for a permanent, full‑time role. The position includes a sign-on bonus and guaranteed 40 hours per week with great benefits.

You will service and repair furnaces, perform HVAC system maintenance, and install new refrigeration equipment, with on‑call and overtime expectations. A Red Seal is an asset, and a valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Journeyman refrigeration and air conditioning mechanic
• Able to work on units above 5 tons
• Strong English communication skills

Responsibilities

• Maintain and service furnaces and HVAC units
• Repair/replace furnaces as required
• Repair and service exhaust fans
• Install new capital refrigeration equipment
• Maintain and service MUA, rooftop and refrigeration units
• Troubleshoot and adjust HVAC control systems
• Keep inspection records and complete paperwork

This is a permanent, full-time role with guaranteed 40 hours per week and great benefits!

Responsibilities:

• Ensure proper maintenance and service furnaces
• Repair/replace furnaces as required
• Exhaust fan repair and service
• New capital refrigeration installations
• Ensure proper maintenance and service on MUA, rooftop and refrigeration units
• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and adjustments on HVAC control systems
• Maintain proper records of inspections
• Complete all required paperwork and other tasks as assigned

Experience and Educational Requirements:

• Valid Journeyman certificate as a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic, Red Seal is an asset
• Able to work on units up and above 5 tons
• 3 to 5 years residential / commercial experience required

Technical Requirements:

• Experience installing and doing service work and troubleshooting on heat pumps
• Previous experience doing inspections on heating and domestic hot water boilers
• Working knowledge of English language both verbal and written
• Familiarity with computer tablets is an asset

Non-Technical Requirements:

• Ability to spend up to eight hours walking, standing, climbing stairs, lifting
• Ability to maneuver up to 90kg with the proper equipment
• Strong commitment to providing excellent customer service
• Ability to take responsibility for all actions and decisions and to follow through until a resolution is obtained
• Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
• Excellent time-management skills
• Ability to work independently (self-managed) and with other Associates in a team environment
• Demonstrates a positive attitude and enthusiasm
