Job summary

Cooper Equipment Rentals Limited seeks a qualified technician to maintain and repair generators from 15kW to 130kW at our Edmonton location. You will inspect, diagnose, and repair generator systems, perform routine maintenance, and review work orders with supervision.

Strong communication and the ability to advise customers on repairs are essential. Applicants should be a Journeyman Automotive Technician with generator experience, hold a Class 5 license (Class 3 is a plus), and be able to work

Qualifications

• Journeyman Automotive Technician with generator experience preferred.
• Class 5 license with a clean or satisfactory driving record.
• Experience with generator service and repair is required or preferred.
• Available to work overtime when required.
• Strong verbal and written communication with customers and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair 15kW to 130kW generators.
• Inspect operation, diagnose faults with testing devices.
• Adjust/repair/replace parts of generator systems (fuel, engine, drive train, exhaust, electrical).
• Test and tune repaired systems to manufacturer specs.
• Perform scheduled maintenance such as oil changes and tune-ups.
• Review work orders with supervisor.
• Advise customers on work performed and future repair needs.

What You’ll Be Doing Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain and repair 15kw to 130Kw generators.
• Inspect motor in operation, and test automotive systems and generator components using computerized diagnostic and other testing devices to diagnose and isolate faults.
• Adjust, repair, or replace parts and components of generator systems including fuel system, engine, drive train, emission control and exhaust, electrical and electronic systems using hand tools and other specialized repair equipment.
• Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer's performance specifications.
• Perform scheduled maintenance service, such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune ups.
• Review work orders and discuss work with your supervisor.
• Advise customers on work performed, general generator condition and future repair requirements.

What You’ll Bring to the Team Qualifications and Requirements:

• Journeyman Automotive Technician with generator experience preferred.
• Class 5 license with a clean or satisfactory driver’s abstract (no more than 3 demerit points) is required.
• Class 3 license is considered an asset.
• Experience with generator service and repair.
• Available to work overtime when required.
• Flexibility; must be comfortable with managing and adapting to multiple changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to converse with colleagues, customers, and other parties in a professional and courteous manner.
• Self-starter and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
