Job summary

Cooper Equipment Rentals Limited is seeking a motivated, customer-oriented technician to service and repair generator systems at our Airdrie facility. You will review work orders, diagnose faults with automated testing equipment, and perform maintenance to ensure optimal generator performance.

The role requires relevant trade status, a Class 5 license (Class 3 asset), and the ability to work overtime as needed. Excellent communication and independent work habits are essential.

Qualifications

• Registered Heavy Equipment Technician Apprentice.
• Class 5 license with a clean driving record (no more than 3 demerit points); Class 3 is an asset.
• Experience with generator service and repair is an asset.
• Willing to work overtime when required.
• Flexible and able to adapt to multiple changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication with colleagues and customers.
• Self-starter and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Pride in what you do.

Responsibilities

• Review work orders and discuss work with your supervisor.
• Inspect motor in operation and test automotive systems to diagnose faults.
• Adjust, repair, or replace parts and components of generator systems using hand tools and specialized repair equipment.
• Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer specifications.
• Perform scheduled maintenance such as oil changes and tune-ups.
• Advise customers on work performed and future repair requirements.

What You’ll Be Doing

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Review work orders and discuss work with your supervisor.
• Inspect motor in operation, and test automotive systems and components using computerized diagnostic and other testing devices to diagnose and isolate faults.
• Adjust, repair, or replace parts and components of generator systems including fuel system, engine, drive train, emission control and exhaust, electrical and electronic systems using hand tools and other specialized automotive repair equipment.
• Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer's performance specifications.
• Perform scheduled maintenance service, such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune ups.
• Advise customers on work performed, general generator condition and future repair requirements.

• Class 5 license with a clean or satisfactory driver’s abstract (no more than 3 demerit points) is required. Class 3 license is considered an asset.
• Experience with generator service and repair is an asset.

• Flexibility; must be comfortable with managing and adapting to multiple changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to converse with colleagues, customers, and other parties in a professional and courteous manner.
