Job description

We are looking for a Java Team Leader who is flexible, adaptable, and highly skilled to lead and grow our development team in Montreal.

Key Responsibilities :
  1. Lead, mentor, and manage the local Java development team in Montreal, ensuring team productivity, collaboration, and professional growth.
  2. Build and grow the local team by recruiting and onboarding talented developers to meet project needs and team expansion goals.
  3. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, technical excellence, and teamwork.
  4. Coordinate with the global development team to ensure alignment, share best practices, and ensure successful project execution.
  5. Oversee the end-to-end application development lifecycle, including planning, design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
  6. Ensure effective communication between the local team and global stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions within timelines.
  7. Provide technical leadership and guidance in the areas of Java, Spring.
  8. Conduct code reviews, enforce coding standards, and promote best practices within the team.
  9. Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the team is leveraging the most effective tools and methodologies.
What are we looking for?
  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience in Java development.
  3. At least 2+ years of experience in a managerial or leadership role, preferably in a software development environment.
  4. Deep understanding and hands-on experience with Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles.
  5. Experience building and growing development teams, including recruitment, onboarding, and performance management.
  6. Be flexible and adaptive in leading the team through changing technical requirements, ensuring challenges are handled efficiently and solutions are quickly implemented.
  7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across local and global teams.
  8. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with experience in leading complex projects.
  9. Knowledge of SAP Commerce Cloud, Groovy, and Apache Solr is a strong plus.
  10. Experience with high volume transactional websites is beneficial.
Nice to have :
  1. Experience working in a multinational or distributed team environment.
  2. English is required for the role, and French or Mandarin is a plus.
  3. Knowledge of additional languages or cultures is an asset.
