We are looking for a Java Team Leader who is flexible, adaptable, and highly skilled to lead and grow our development team in Montreal.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead, mentor, and manage the local Java development team in Montreal, ensuring team productivity, collaboration, and professional growth.
- Build and grow the local team by recruiting and onboarding talented developers to meet project needs and team expansion goals.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, technical excellence, and teamwork.
- Coordinate with the global development team to ensure alignment, share best practices, and ensure successful project execution.
- Oversee the end-to-end application development lifecycle, including planning, design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
- Ensure effective communication between the local team and global stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions within timelines.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance in the areas of Java, Spring.
- Conduct code reviews, enforce coding standards, and promote best practices within the team.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the team is leveraging the most effective tools and methodologies.
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience in Java development.
- At least 2+ years of experience in a managerial or leadership role, preferably in a software development environment.
- Deep understanding and hands-on experience with Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles.
- Experience building and growing development teams, including recruitment, onboarding, and performance management.
- Be flexible and adaptive in leading the team through changing technical requirements, ensuring challenges are handled efficiently and solutions are quickly implemented.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across local and global teams.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with experience in leading complex projects.
- Knowledge of SAP Commerce Cloud, Groovy, and Apache Solr is a strong plus.
- Experience with high volume transactional websites is beneficial.
Nice to have :
- Experience working in a multinational or distributed team environment.
- English is required for the role, and French or Mandarin is a plus.
- Knowledge of additional languages or cultures is an asset.
