Job summary

Primoris Canada seeks an Ironworker to install and erec t steel, often at heights, indoors or outdoors. The role involves physically demanding tasks, with potential for loud environments and heat variations. Start ASAP at the CNRL Horizon Sustaining site, with 24/4 shifts and flights from Edmonton/Calgary.

Responsibilities

• Fabricates structural steel, ornamental work and pre-cast structures on a variety of projects.
• Studies blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine layout of work.
• Position steel units, align holes and insert temporary bolts while checking alignments and joining parts with wrenches.
• Attach cables from a crane and direct crane operators with hand signals or radio.
• Unload and stack steel units so each piece can be hoisted as needed.
• Operate grinders safely in accordance with procedures.
• Recognize spool hoisting points and use proper rigging signals in a fast-paced environment.

COMPANY PROFILE Primoris Canada is an infrastructure contractor serving major firms in the oil, gas, power, petrochemical, and heavy oil industries and include services covering tailings and hydro-transport pipeline construction and maintenance, storage tank construction and maintenance, industrial facilities multi-discipline construction and maintenance, piping fabrication, and pipeline integrity services.

SUMMARY

The Ironworker is involved in the installation and erection of steel, often completed at heights. This work may exist indoors or outdoors and may include physically demanding tasks that often require climbing and lifting. This environment has the potential for loud noise, high temperature variances (heat and humidity), and congestion.

Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible. Location: CNRL Horizon Sustaining (CNRL CMS) Shift: 24/4 Travel: Flights provided from Edmonton and Calgary Accommodation: Camp available Hourly Rate: $53.56 Additional Information: 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Year Apprentices are considered.

JOB DUTIES

• Fabricates structural steel, ornamental work and pre-cast structures on a variety of projects
• Studies blueprints, drawing and specifications to determine the lay out of work
• Position steel units, align holes and insert temporary bolts while checking alignments and joining steel parts using simple torque and hand wrenches
• Attach cables from a crane and direct crane operators with hand signals and or radio
• Unload and stack steel units so each piece can be hoisted as needed
• Know, understand, and operate grinders safely in accordance with safe work practices and procedures
• Ability to recognize spool hoisting point and utilize proper rigging techniques and signals while working in a fast-paced environment
• May perform other duties as assigned
