Job summary

Baffinland is inviting applicants to join the Inuit One-Year Internship Program at Mary River Mine Site, NU, Canada. Interns will work with experienced staff and gain hands-on experience across departments, with structured training, mentorship, and opportunities to develop technical and leadership skills.

Successful candidates may be placed at site, community, or corporate offices in Nunavut and Ontario, providing exposure to mining operations and business functions while building a rewarding

Qualifications

  • Must be an Inuit Beneficiary under the Nunavut Agreement.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Post-secondary education, current enrollment, or interest in a college, university, trades, or technical program is considered an asset.
  • Interest in pursuing a career in mining, engineering, environmental management, human resources, finance, information technology, administration, trades, or related fields.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with day-to-day activities and projects within the assigned department.
  • Participate in structured training, development, and mentoring opportunities.
  • Support administrative, technical, operational, or field-based tasks as required.
  • Work closely with supervisors and mentors to develop workplace knowledge and skills.
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and professional development activities.
  • Contribute to departmental projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare reports and documentation as required.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.

Position Summary

Successful candidates may be assigned to a site‑based, community‑based, or corporate office placement, providing exposure to Baffinland's mining operations and business functions in Nunavut and Ontario.

Working Conditions

Internship placements may be based at one of Baffinland's locations, depending on business needs and the successful candidate's interests and career goals:

  • Mary River Mine Site
  • 3 weeks on / 3 weeks off (3x3) rotational schedule
  • Travel to and from the mine site is provided in accordance with company policies
  • Candidates must meet all site access, medical, and safety requirements
  • Iqaluit Office
  • Regular Monday to Friday work schedule
  • Community‑based office environment
  • Oakville Office
  • Regular Monday to Friday work schedule
  • Corporate office environment
