Job summary

Bombardier is seeking an engineering intern for the Advanced Structures team in Dorval, QC. The role focuses on developing models and tools to support an innovative aircraft structure and analyzing data from similar existing designs.

You will learn to apply FEM software for structural analysis, work with Python, and participate in project meetings. The internship offers a hybrid work arrangement and is intended for students, not graduates.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a mechanical engineering degree with coding experience.
• Familiar with Python (Python 3.0+) and object-oriented programming methods.
• Experience with a finite element software suite (Nastran, NX, OptiStruct or MSC).

Responsibilities

• Work within the Advanced Structures engineering department of Bombardier.
• Help develop models and tools to process an innovative aircraft structure.
• Complete and analyze data concerning similar existing structures.
• Create the documentation (procedures and methodologies) for the development of this new aircraft.
• Support the first phase of development for the structural aspect with standard analysis tools (e.g., FEM).
• Begin production of deliverables required for this first development phase.

What are your contributions to the team?

During your internship, you will contribute to:

• Work within the Advanced Structures engineering department of Bombardier;
• Help develop models and tools to process an innovative aircraft structure;
• Complete and analyze available data concerning similar existing structures
• Create the documentation (procedures and methodologies) for the development of this new aircraft;
• Support the first phase of development for the structural aspect with standard analysis tools, for instance, finite element analysis;
• Begin the production of the deliverables required for this first development phase

During your internship, you will learn:

• Deepen knowledge on using FEM software for Structures analysis
• Develop critical thinking on mathematical results to give them with meaning for engineering.
• Participate to project meetings (Project follow up, design reviews, specific studies)

What we are looking for:

• You are enrolled in a mechanical engineering degree with some coding experience
• You are familiar with python coding (Python 3.0+) and object-oriented programming methods
• You have an experience with Nastran (Siemens NX, Altair OptiStruct, MSC)
• Or at least an another finite element software suite
• You have basic knowledge of MS Office; Excel, Word, PowerPoint
• You are autonomous, result-driven and enthusiastic with strong work ethic
