Job summary

Bombardier in Saint-Laurent, QC is seeking an Intern in Advanced Design to develop and apply geometry optimization tools. You will work on tools with the Advanced Design department and contribute to early-stage aircraft concept development within a collaborative team.

You will learn about multidisciplinary optimization approaches, practice Python and other languages, and gain experience across engineering disciplines.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a university-level aerospace engineering program (or equivalent).
• Completed at least two years of the program.
• Strong interest in aerospace and aircraft design.
• Interest in software development with Python; familiarity with Dash is a plus.
• Familiar with other programming languages (C/C++, Matlab, Fortran).
• Motivated, curious, independent; proficient with Microsoft Office.

What are your contributions to the team?

During your internship, you will contribute to:

• Help develop and validate various software tools developed with the Advanced Design department
• Develop geometrical optimization tools
• Test and validate the geometrical tools through case studies

During your internship, you will learn:

• The importance of multidisciplinary design optimization tools in the design of new products
• To use different programming languages and development environments
• How to participate in the early phases of the development of new aircraft concepts
• To work as a cohesive team with experts from different technical disciplines

How to thrive in this role?

What we are looking for:

• You are currently enrolled in a university level aerospace engineering program or equivalent (e.g. mechanical engineering, computer engineering, computer sciences, etc.)
• You have completed at least two years of the program
• You show a keen interest in aerospace in general and aircraft design in particular
• You show a keen interest for software development, with a good knowledge of the Python programming language. Familiarity with dash is an asset;
• You are familiar with other programming languages (C/C++, Matlab, Fortran)
• You are motivated, curious and independent
• You are familiar and comfortable with Microsoft Office

It is important to note that our internship opportunities are open to students only, not new graduates. All our interns may be required to occasionally travel outside of Canada for training/work purpose.
