Job summary

Bombardier invites engineering interns to join its global team for a 12-month program in Mississauga, operating on a hybrid schedule. You will contribute to aircraft mass properties, weight and balance analysis, and support to production and systems engineering.

The role suits students in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, computer or software engineering with strong Excel skills and familiarity with CATIA V5. English proficiency required; occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Student currently enrolled in an aerospace/mechanical/electrical/computer/software engineering program.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and MS Office suite.
  • Familiarity with CATIA V5 and scripting in VBA, Python or MATLAB is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform weight and balance calculations for Aircraft, assemblies, or components.
  • Create Weight and Balance Reports and define limits for Aircraft weight and CG.
  • Support production with line moves or jacking activities and monitor supplier weights.
  • Assist Systems Engineering and governance by tracking actions and KPI data.

What are your contributions to the team?
  • Performing physical weighing of the Aircraft, assemblies or components.
  • Calculations for Weight and Centre of Gravity of the Aircraft.
  • Creation of the Weight and Balance Reports.
  • Defining in the Weight and Centre of Gravity limitations for the Aircraft, ballast requirements for Final Assembly Line and technical analyses.
  • Monitor Suppliers weights and perform Supplier audits, as needed.
  • Support to Production for a Typical Line Move or Jacking activity.
  • Seeking continual improvement of Mass Properties Processes, Procedures and Software Tools.
  • Support to the Systems Engineering team in investigating technical issues & governance;
  • Support engineering deliverables & governance by managing database and following up on outstanding actions;
  • Support Bombardier Operational Excellence System by tracking Key Performance Indicators (KPI) governance;
  • Facilitate meetings, create presentation packages, issue meeting minutes in a timely manner;
  • Develop good working relationships with various departments within Bombardier;
  • Seek continual improvement for internal processes and tools
How to thrive in this role?
  • You are a student in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, computer or software engineering.
  • You have good oral and technical writing skills in English (French is an asset).
  • You are proficient in the Microsoft Office suite and most notably Excel.
  • You possess good working knowledge CATIA V5.
  • Ability to program using VBA (great assets to have), as well as MATLAB, Python or SciLab scripts is an asset.
  • You possess good interpersonal skills in order to work well in a team and interface with other groups.
  • You can work independently and demonstrate initiative to achieve the goals established for you.
  • Occasional support outside of core hours.
