Job summary

WSP Canada is offering an Electrical Engineering Intern opportunity in Canada, where you will work with experienced engineers on projects powering communities. You will gain hands-on experience in electrical systems design while developing technical skills for a successful engineering career.

You’ll learn through a collaborative team environment, participate in design analyses, and contribute to projects that advance sustainable development across buildings, infrastructure, and energy sectors.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Electrical Engineering degree program.
• Returning to full-time studies upon completion of the internship term.
• Strong interest in electrical systems design, power distribution, building systems, infrastructure, industrial facilities, or renewable energy projects.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, SKM, or other engineering software is considered an asset.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with an eagerness to learn.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a consulting environment.
• A valid driver's license is considered an asset for positions involving fieldwork and site visits.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and analysis of electrical systems for buildings, infrastructure, industrial, and energy-related projects.
• Assist with electrical load calculations, equipment selection, and design documentation.
• Prepare drawings, specifications, reports, and technical memoranda that contribute to project success.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and multidisciplinary project teams to develop innovative solutions.
• Participate in site visits, inspections, condition assessments, and field investigations.
• Review applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulatory requirements to support compliant designs.
• Assist with project coordination activities, documentation, and communication across project teams.
• Contribute to project outcomes that enhance communities, improve infrastructure, and support sustainable development.

Compensation

BC, AB, SK, NWT & NU: $24.00 - $32.25 per hour

MB & ON: $22.50 - $30.25 per hour

Atlantic Provinces & QC: $21.50 - $30.25 per hour
