The Opportunity:

The Property Accountant adds value by providing accurate financial information to help manage properties and budgets, facilitate decision-making, and monitor cash flows.

What You Will Do
  1. Handle full-cycle accounting for residential and mixed-use properties.
  2. Produce monthly Financial Statements per IFRS/ASPE standards or client requirements.
  3. Provide supplementary reports as needed.
  4. Analyze variances using budgets and other tools.
  5. Reconcile and analyze Balance Sheet accounts.
  6. Prepare and record operating costs and property tax adjustments monthly.
  7. Ensure timely reconciliation and remittance of taxes (HST, GST, QST).
  8. Monitor cash flows, including mortgage payments, payroll, taxes, and other major expenses.
  9. Determine surplus funds for distribution.
  10. Support tenant invoicing and reconciliation.
  11. Complete year-end adjustments and tenant billings within 90 days.
  12. Prepare property budgets on time.
  13. Propose procedural improvements for efficiency.
  14. Provide timely financial information internally and externally.
  15. Take full responsibility for assigned portfolio duties.
  16. Develop skills in problem solving, decision making, and communication.
  17. Communicate professionally with colleagues and clients.
  18. Assist with coverage during absences.
  19. Perform other duties as assigned.
  20. Support BGO’s environmental and social responsibility initiatives.
Who You Are
  1. Enrolled in CPA or equivalent program.
  2. Experience in full-cycle accounting is an asset.
  3. 2-3 years in residential/mixed-use property accounting preferred.
  4. Strong communication and relationship skills.
  5. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  6. Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Microsoft Office; knowledge of Yardi is an asset.
  7. Criminal verification check required.
