We are looking for a Property Accountant to join Oxford’s North American Accounting team. The successful candidate will be part of an innovative team responsible for accounting and analysis for a portfolio of properties and other projects as assigned. This role requires strong analytical and critical thinking skills, effective communication, and the ability to multitask in a complex environment. Experience in the real estate industry is preferred.

Specific duties include:

  • Transition a portfolio of assets previously externally managed to in-house management.
  • Handle all aspects of general ledger accounting, including month-end close, bank reconciliations, and tax remittances.
  • Prepare, analyze, and interpret monthly financial results to support business decisions.
  • Analyze cash flows and manage contributions/distributions through various legal structures.
  • Prepare annual budgets and quarterly reforecasts.
  • Design and implement complex tenant recovery models.
  • Review and analyze tenant leases and year-end cost statements for tenant billing reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with property and asset management teams to address financial issues and provide guidance on accounting policies.
  • Develop asset management reporting packages for decision-making.
  • Prepare financial statements in compliance with local GAAP or IFRS standards across jurisdictions.
  • Coordinate audits and participate in process improvement projects.
  • Ensure adherence to Oxford’s processes and controls.

Experience/Qualifications Required

  • 3-4 years of experience in real estate accounting.
  • University degree.
  • CPA designation or substantial progress in CPA program preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-starter with ability to thrive in fast-paced environments.
  • Collaborative team player with strong multitasking skills.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with HFM and JDE considered assets.
