Job summary

The Saskatchewan Polytechnic Regina Campus is seeking an Instructor for Dental Assisting in Continuing Education. This contract role covers online sessions with in-person lab days, running Sept 7 to Oct 4, 2026 and additional dates based on enrolment.

Compensation is $60 per hour, with hours per student, a lab component, and prep time. Responsibilities include course material updates, regular student communication, grading, and ensuring quality lab delivery.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Level II Dental Assisting Program.
• Current License to practice Dental Assisting in Saskatchewan.
• Min. 2 years recent and relevant dental assisting experience in a dental office.
• Experience teaching dental assisting skills or in a clinical environment.
• Ability to apply adult education principles to learners.

Responsibilities

• Check links and content prior to the start of the course and update resources as needed.
• Communicate with students regularly, mark assignments, monitor progress and provide feedback.
• Manage and review exam submissions and finalize official grades.
• Create an outline for lab days, prepare rooms and supplies, teach and demonstrate skills.
• Submit required paperwork to Continuing Education.

Job Duties

Create an outline for the lab days, submit packing list(s) to lab in a timely manner, prepare the room and supplies prior to the start time and cleanup afterwards, teach and demonstrate related skills, provide scenarios and answer student's questions, complete performance skill testing as required, submit any required paperwork to Continuing Education.

Description Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Level II Dental Assisting Program.
• Current License to practice Dental Assisting in Saskatchewan.
• Min. 2 years recent and relevant (2 years within the last 5 years) dental assisting experience in a dental office.
• Comprehensive knowledge of current dental assisting principles and techniques-up to date with current dental assisting courses.
• Recent experience in teaching dental assisting skills and/or a recent experience in a clinical environment.
• Ability to apply basic principles and practices of adult education to assist learners with the required knowledge and skills.
• Preference will be given to current Saskatchewan Polytechnic faculty.
• Demonstrates valuing diversity.
