Covenant Health Canada is seeking a Clinical Nurse Educator to lead education for Unit 23-Day Surgery and Day Medicine at Grey Nuns Community Hospital. You will design orientation, provide clinical consultation, and drive staff development initiatives with other educators.
The role requires a BScN, RN licensure, and five years' acute care surgery experience, plus strong MS Office skills and leadership abilities.

Reporting to the Program Manager for Surgical Services, the Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) is a highly motivated, self directed professional. The CNE will provide orientation, in-service programs, clinical consultation and individual staff development initiatives in conjunction with other clinical nurse educators in the surgical program. The CNE will take lead for unit 23 (day surgery, same day admit and day medicine) but will provide support in all areas of the surgery portfolio including corporate responsibilities. The CNE is responsible for providing and facilitating education applicable to the various areas to ensure clinical competencies and practices are maintained in each department. The CNE plays an integral role in policy and procedure research, development and implementation. As a role model for staff, in accordance with the Covenant Health Mission, Vision, and Values; the incumbent will function independently in both the formal and informal learning environments.
The Instructor's primary role is to ensure the delivery of quality patient care and excellence in nursing. Exercising adult principles of learning, the Instructor will design, enhance and provide staff orientation, education, clinical consultation, development, and/or evaluation. The Instructor's nursing practice will reflect a current, broad knowledge base, and excellent nursing skills that enable her/him to function as a role model and support staff in accordance with Covenant Health's Mission, Vision, and Values. The Instructor will function independently in formal and informal learning environments. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the UNA Collective Agreement.
Graduate of a Registered Nurse program or recognized equivalent required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or other applicable degree required. Combination of education and experience will be considered. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) is required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
Additional Required Qualifications:Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) required from a recognized school of nursing. Five years current clinical experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting specializing in surgery is required. Current charge nurse experience is required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience as a Clinical Nurse Educator is preferred. Demonstrated ability to positively support staff in learning and change. Ability to independently recognize areas of opportunity, set priorities, suggest resolutions and implement improvement.
