Covenant Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Emergency GNCH unit at Grey Nuns Community Hospital in Edmonton. This position is 0.63 FTE with Regular Part Time status and a posting window through September 21, 2026.

The nurse will work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver compassionate, quality care. Ideal candidates demonstrate strong assessment, organizational and documentation skills; active CRNA registration and current BLS are required.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a Registered Nurse program or recognized equivalent required.
  • Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) required.
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
  • If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five years, completion of CRNA Medication Administration and NextGenU Health Assessment Resources may be required.

Description:

The Registered Nurse (RN) participates in nursing assessments and interventions, care planning, implementing prescribed treatments, administering medications, evaluating treatments, and monitoring/documenting treatment progress and patient/resident response. Acting as an advocate, coordinator and liaison for the patient/resident, the RN identifies needs and sets priorities in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. The RN facilitates patient/resident and family education and discharge planning, and may be required to act in a charge nurse capacity. The RN is responsible for the provision of care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the UNA Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:

Additional Required Qualifications:

Recent Emergency Department experience within the past two (2) years OR ICU/CCU experience within the past two (2) years OR A minimum of three (3) years’ experience (approx. 6000 hours) in Medical, Surgical, or Labor and Delivery units within the past five (5) years. Excellent assessment, organization and documentation skills required. Strong interpersonal communication, stress management and conflict management skills. Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to identify own learning needs, seek guidance in professional practice when deficits occur and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional growth and development.In this position, you will be on your feet for an extended period of time (both walking and standing), and you must be able to assist in transporting, lifting and positioning patients. You will also be required to bend, lift, push, and pull equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Urban Emergency Department experience. ED charge nurse experience preferred. Triage experience preferred. One (1) or more of the following active certifications: ACLS, TNCC, ENPC, PALS, ENA Emergency Certificate, NRP, ITLS. ACCN completion. ENPEP completion. Experience and ability to work with cardiac monitors preferred. Dysrhythmia recognition and interpretation of ECG’s preferred.
