Qualifications

• Graduate of a Registered Nurse program. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) required.
• Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
• If not practiced as an RN in the last five years, complete CRNA Medication Administration Certificate and NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification.
• One year of recent adult acute inpatient experience; orthopaedic/surgical preceptorship may be considered.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem solving and organizational skills.

Description:

The Registered Nurse (RN) participates in nursing assessments and interventions, care planning, implementing prescribed treatments, administering medications, evaluating treatments, and monitoring/documenting treatment progress and patient/resident response. Acting as an advocate, coordinator and liaison for the patient/resident, the RN identifies needs and sets priorities in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. The RN facilitates patient/resident and family education and discharge planning, and may be required to act in a charge nurse capacity. The RN is responsible for the provision of care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. Required Qualifications:

Additional Required Qualifications:

One year of recent (within the last 2 years) of adult acute inpatient experience. A recent successful preceptorship in orthopaedic/surgical may be considered (within the last 2 years). Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Proven problem solving and critical thinking skills. Excellent assessment and organizational skills. Ability to work in a fast paced, highly stressful environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Two years of recent adult acute orthopaedic/surgical experience (within the last 3 years) preferred. Charge nurse experience. Inpatient connect care proficiency.
