Job description

Your Opportunity

The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) supports excellence in nursing practice within Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) Operative Services by advancing staff knowledge, skills, critical thinking, and professional development. Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, DTC Surgical Suite, the CNE plans, coordinates, delivers, and evaluates educational programs for the Operating Room and Post-Anesthetic Care Unit (PACU). The CNE contributes to the development and maintenance of provincial, corridor, and site-based educational programs, practice support resources, and competency-based learning initiatives. Using adult learning principles and evidence-informed practice, the CNE facilitates orientation, mandatory, and continuing education for professional and non-professional staff. In partnership with managers, the CNE monitors and evaluates the progress of peri-operative learners and staff, providing feedback and recommendations to support competency development. The CNE supports learners through observation, coaching, mentoring, and clinical demonstration, and collaborates in the development and implementation of individualized learning plans as needed. The CNE promotes clinical competence and practice excellence by supporting the implementation of new policies, procedures, protocols, technologies, and best practices. As a clinical leader and role model, the incumbent fosters a positive team culture, supports change management, and provides daily consultation and mentorship to multidisciplinary staff within the busy peri-operative environment. Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills are essential to ensure consistent standards, goals, and objectives are achieved across the interdisciplinary team. The successful candidate will be self-directed, adaptable, and committed to evidence-based practice and continuous quality improvement.
